Vaishakh Maas

The name of the month Vaishakh is derived from the position of the moon near the star Vaishakh on full moon day. According to the Skanda Purana Lord Brahma has described the month of Vaishakh as the best of all the months. This month, like Mother, is always going to provide the desired thing to all the living beings. This holy month inspires the person to be oriented to understand the inner self. In the Puranas, this month has been called the month of chanting, penance and charity. Lord Vishnu is worshipped in the month of Vaishakh. Charity done in this auspicious month is considered sacred and auspicious.

Uma Maheshwari Pujan

Uma Maheshwari Pujan is performed for long and happy married life. Uma (Goddess Parvati the consort of Lord Shiva) and Lord Shiva puja is performed as they are considered to be the perfect match i.e. Shiv and Shakti. Uma is the manifestation of Shakti and Maheshwari in Shiva. Lord Shiva protects devotees from evil forces such as lust, greed, and anger. Varuthani Ekadashi

Varuthani means protected or armoured. Varuthani Ekadashi falls on the 11 th lunar day of the Krishna Paksha in the month of Vaishakh. Lord Vishnu is worshipped on Varuthani Ekadashi as Vamana Lord Vishnu’s fifth avtar. Observing the Ekadashi vrat bestows innumerable blessings on the devotee like a possible moksha from the unending cycle of life and death. The devotees also attain prosperity, abundance and good luck in their lives by performing Varuthani Ekadashi Pujan.

Akshaya Trithiya

Akshaya Trithiya is a Sanskrit word, where Akshaya stands for eternal, the never lessening sense of happiness, success and joy and Trithiya stands for third. It is named after the third lunar day of the Vaishakh month. Akshaya Trithiya is also known as Akha Teej in some places. Akshaya Trithiya is also the Jayanti of Lord Parshuram, the sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu. According to a legend, Ved Vyasa began to recite the epic Mahabharata to Lord Ganesha on Akshaya Tritiya. Another belief says that Lord Kuber received his wealth and position as the Lord of wealth on this auspicious day. As Mahalakshmi signifies gold and silver, many people tend to invest in gold and silver on this day to seek her blessings in multiplying the wealth. Lord Krishna bestowed wealth and monetary gains on his Childhood friend Sudama on this day. This day is considered to be the most auspicious day to start a new venture, as any business started on this day is believed to flourish.
