The mouth of the Rudraksha is Brahma, the middle part is Rudra and the tail part is Vishnu. The power of Rudraksha is two-fold. It provides prosperity (bhog) and liberation (Moksha). The Rudraksha mala should be knotted in a circular manner. The mala should be made using Rudraksha beads which have a natural hole in them.

The beads should be strung head-to-head and tail-to-tail. The head of the Meru bead should be pointing upwards. The maker should chant OM after each bead is strung and tied with a knot.

In this manner, the knotted Rudraksha mala is said to be capable of conferring Mantra Siddhi. The mala should be washed in fragrant water and Panchgavya before using the Rudraksha mala.
